Prepare a route file for the real run

GPX running route planner

Runwiv connects route planning to the live run itself, so a GPX-style route is more than a file sitting in a folder.

Plan a route

Runwiv is in pre-launch. Features described here preview the intended product; device support and access depend on release availability. Join the free launch waitlist or try the spectator demo. No payment required.

What to expect

  • Import and prepare route data

What a GPX file contains

GPX is a format for geographic points and tracks. It can describe where a route goes, but does not by itself verify access rights, current conditions or whether a route suits your group. Runwiv Route Studio is designed to connect imported route information with previews and shared sessions.

Review the import before sharing

Check the start and finish, route direction and distance after import. Look for gaps or unexpected straight lines between points. If the route comes from an event, compare it with the organiser’s latest information and distinguish a personal training route from an official course.

Add the context the file leaves out

Explain the meeting point, intended pace, surface and regrouping locations alongside the map. For a club session, tell members who to contact if they need a shorter option. Test the route view on the device you will use before the run.

Common questions

Does importing GPX prove a route is safe or open?

No. A route file does not certify access or current conditions. Check the route and any local restrictions before running.

Can I preview Route Studio before launch?

The website describes Route Studio and public route workflows. Editing or saving routes can require an authorised Runwiv account; join the waitlist for public availability updates.
