Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Runwiv is a live social running app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this in plain English — if anything is unclear, email us at support@runwiv.com.

What we collect

Location data. When you run, Runwiv tracks your GPS position to power the live map, squad radar, and spectator views. You control when the app can access your location through your phone’s settings. Location is only shared with other users you actively share a session with.

Health and fitness data. If you grant access to Apple HealthKit or Google Fit, we read metrics like heart rate, pace, distance, and calories to display on your watch and in the app. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.

Account information. When you sign in (via Apple or email), we store your name, email address, and a unique account identifier. This lets you access your runs, clubs, and routes across devices.

Usage data. We collect information about how you use the app — which features you use, session lengths, and crash reports — to improve reliability and fix bugs. This data is anonymised where possible.

Content you create. Routes, run records, club posts, and profile information you add to Runwiv are stored on our servers. You can delete this data at any time.

How we use your data

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Who we share data with

Other Runwiv users. During a live session, your location and pace are visible to other runners in that session and — if you enable it — to spectators viewing your public spectator link. You control who can see you.

Club admins. If you’re a member of a Runwiv club, club admins can see your RSVP status and run participation within that club.

Infrastructure providers. We use Google Firebase to store and sync data. Google processes data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We use Apple HealthKit under Apple’s privacy guidelines.

Strava (optional). If you connect your Strava account, we sync activity data between the two apps. You can disconnect Strava at any time in the app settings.

Your choices and rights

If you are based in the UK or EU, you have additional rights under data protection law including the right to access, correct, or erase your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Run records and routes are kept so you can access your history. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it for legal reasons.

Children

Runwiv is not intended for children under 13. Users aged 13–17 must have parental consent. If you believe a child has created an account without consent, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of Runwiv after changes means you accept the updated policy.
