Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Runwiv — the iOS and Android apps, Apple Watch companion, web spectator tools, Route Studio, and Club OS. By creating an account, starting a run, or using any part of the Platform, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully before you run.

description Agreement to these Terms
Runwiv Ltd (“Runwiv”, “we”, “us”) provides a live social running platform. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Runwiv when you access or use the Platform.
- If you use Runwiv on behalf of a club or organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.
- If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use the Platform.
- Your use of optional integrations (Strava, Spotify, etc.) is also subject to those providers’ terms.
- Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and is incorporated by reference.
Before every run: the in-app safety briefing mirrors the rules in the Safety section below. Starting a session means you accept those rules for that activity.
info Definitions
Throughout these Terms, the following words have specific meanings:
person Eligibility & Accounts
Age requirement
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Runwiv account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. Runwiv is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Account responsibility
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when registering. Do not impersonate another person or use a misleading display name.
- Sign-in via Apple, Google, email, or other supported providers is subject to those providers’ authentication terms.
- Notify us immediately at support@runwiv.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
- We may suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a safety risk.
Medical fitness
Consult a doctor before starting any new fitness programme. By using Runwiv you confirm that you are physically capable of participating and are not aware of any medical condition that would make running or your chosen activity dangerous without medical supervision.
shield Safety & Disclaimer
Running and fitness activities carry inherent physical risk. Runwiv makes running live, social, and fun — but your safety always comes first. The following rules are shown before runs inside the app and form part of these Terms.
Stay aware
Watch traffic, people, roads, weather, uneven ground, and your surroundings at all times. No app feature is worth compromising awareness of the real world.
Eyes up, not on screen
Do not let the app, watch, spectators, Hype Bombs, route prompts, or game objectives distract you from hazards. Prefer Apple Watch or audio cues where possible.
Play games safely
Never trespass, enter restricted areas, ignore traffic rules, or take unsafe shortcuts for checkpoints or capture zones. Game objectives must never override personal safety.
Location & data
Live location and stats may be shared with spectators or participants depending on session type. GPS and biometrics may be inaccurate or delayed. Runwiv is not an emergency service or medical device.
Recording & bystanders
If you use supported smart glasses or other camera-enabled wearables with Runwiv, only record where it is lawful and where you have the right to do so. Be considerate of bystanders, avoid recording in private spaces, and follow local recording-consent laws.
Stop if something feels wrong
Stop immediately if you feel unwell, unsafe, dizzy, faint, unusually breathless, or experience chest pain. Seek medical help. No leaderboard or game is worth compromising your health.
By starting a run, you confirm you are fit enough to participate, will follow local laws and traffic rules, will stay aware of your surroundings, and accept personal responsibility for your safety during any activity on the Platform.
rule Acceptable Use
You agree to use Runwiv only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:
- Harass, abuse, stalk, threaten, or harm other users, club members, or spectators.
- Attempt unauthorised access to the Platform, another user’s account, or Runwiv infrastructure.
- Send false location data, manipulate leaderboards, or exploit game mechanics.
- Organise or promote illegal activities or activities that endanger public safety beyond inherent running risk.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or harvest Platform data automatically without written permission.
- Send unsolicited commercial messages or spam through club channels, invites, or live features.
- Broadcast offensive, discriminatory, or illegal content through voice, chat, or spectator features.
- Impersonate Runwiv staff, moderators, club officials, or other users.
- Abuse critical alerts, safety broadcasts, SOS flows, or club emergency tools with false reports.
Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.
share_location Location & Data
How location is used
Runwiv uses device GPS to power live tracking, multiplayer sessions, Arcade modes, route navigation, radar, and spectator views. Location is active during an open session unless you revoke permission in device settings.
Who can see your location
- Squad sessions: Participants in the same session see each other’s real-time position.
- Solo live share: Anyone with your active spectator link can view your position in the browser.
- Radar & intercepts: Nearby runners may see approximate location only if you enable those features.
- Club sessions: Club admins and members in the same event may see positions relevant to that event — not unrelated personal history.
Run records & privacy
Completed traces, splits, pace, heart rate, and analytics are stored to your account. You may delete activities or your entire account from the Locker or by emailing support@runwiv.com.
Our Privacy Policy covers lawful bases, retention, third parties, and your rights under UK/EU GDPR and other laws.
gps_not_fixed GPS & Metrics Accuracy
GPS and biometric data are informational only. Runwiv is not a certified timing system, medical device, or navigation tool. Do not rely on it for safety-critical decisions.
GPS accuracy depends on satellites, hardware, environment, and conditions. This means:
- Distance may differ from certified race measurements or other devices.
- Pace may spike or lag in poor coverage (tunnels, urban canyons, tree cover).
- Heart rate comes from Apple Watch / HealthKit and inherits sensor limitations.
- Elevation, grade-adjusted pace, and power metrics are estimates — not clinical data.
- Virtual tape finish times are for fun and may differ from official chip timing.
Runwiv is not a substitute for emergency services. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number immediately.
sports_esports Arcade & Live Features
Runwiv includes live social features that add competitive and spectator energy to real-world runs:
- Arcade modes (e.g. Turf War, Alleycat, Infection) use GPS for game objectives. You must follow all Safety rules while playing.
- Spectator links let invited viewers follow your run in a browser. Only share links with people you trust.
- Hype Bombs & voice let supporters send encouragement. Do not use them to harass or distract runners unsafely.
- Live Activities & watch HUD display session stats on lock screen and Apple Watch. You control when sessions start and end.
- Session codes gate access to multiplayer rooms. Do not publish codes publicly if you intend a private squad.
Game rankings, territory captures, and leaderboard positions are for entertainment. They are not official sporting results.
visibility Smart Glasses & Wearable Recording
Runwiv supports an optional integration with compatible smart glasses (including devices built on the Meta Wearables Device Access Toolkit) to capture point-of-view photos and video for Route Experiences. This feature is off by default, region- and device-dependent, and only activates when you explicitly connect a supported device and enable it in app settings.
- You are solely responsible for how and where you record. Comply with all applicable laws on recording, wiretapping, and consent (including two-party/all-party consent jurisdictions) and any venue, workplace, or private-property rules.
- Do not record people without appropriate consent, and do not capture footage in places where others have a reasonable expectation of privacy (changing rooms, restrooms, private homes, etc.).
- Captured media is processed to power Route Experience features you choose to use (e.g. attaching POV clips or stills to a route) and is subject to the wearable video allowances described under Subscriptions & Billing.
- Connecting a third-party wearable also subjects you to that manufacturer's own terms and privacy policy (for example, Meta's terms for Meta Wearables-compatible devices). Runwiv does not control the hardware, firmware, or companion apps of third-party devices.
- We may disable or limit this feature at any time, including before general availability, without affecting the rest of the Platform.
See Privacy Policy — Camera & wearable recording for how captured media is stored, retained, and deleted.
groups Clubs & Organisations
Club admins
If you create or administer a club, you are responsible for member conduct on the Platform and for complying with applicable law, including data protection when using member data from Club OS.
- Do not use member data for unrelated commercial purposes without explicit consent.
- Waivers stored via Club OS are for record-keeping only — Runwiv does not provide legal advice on enforceability.
- Membership dues tracking is manual; Runwiv does not process club-to-member payments or mediate disputes.
- Safety broadcasts and mass-start tools are your responsibility. False emergency broadcasts are prohibited.
- Channel moderation (lock, close, remove messages) must be used fairly and lawfully.
Members
By joining a club, you agree admins may see your RSVP status, participation in club events, waiver signatures, and messages in channels you belong to. You may leave a club at any time subject to admin policies.
link Integrations
Optional third-party connections are governed by both these Terms and the provider’s terms:
Strava
If you connect Strava, you authorise activity sync as configured in settings. You can disconnect anytime. Strava’s terms apply to your Strava account.
Spotify / Apple Music
Music integrations provide in-run playback controls. You must have a valid subscription with the provider where required. Runwiv does not supply music licences.
We may add or remove integrations. Disconnecting removes future sync; previously imported data remains until you delete it.
payments Subscriptions & Billing
Free and paid tiers
Core Runwiv features are available free, including solo running, joining sessions hosted by others, a basic supported-watch HUD, and one live-map spectator link per month. Runwiv Pro (or equivalent) unlocks hosting multiplayer sessions, the premium watch experience, and other features described at runwiv.com/pricing. Feature availability may change with notice.
Spectators are free. People you invite to watch your run live on the interactive map never need an account or a subscription.
Subscription terms
- Recurring fees are charged monthly or annually as selected at purchase.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancellation stops future charges; refunds for the current period follow applicable consumer law and platform policy.
- Prices may change with reasonable notice; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
- Purchases through Apple App Store or Google Play are subject to those platforms’ billing and refund terms.
- Free trials, if offered, convert to paid plans unless cancelled before the trial ends.
Plan limits, fair use & capacity
- "Unlimited" entitlements (such as hosted sessions and live-map spectator links) cover ordinary personal and club use and are subject to fair use.
- Each plan has a live-session capacity — the maximum number of active runners and simultaneous map spectators per hosted session (for example, 25 active runners and 100 map spectators on Pro). Current limits are shown at runwiv.com/pricing and may change with reasonable notice.
- Sessions or events that exceed your plan's capacity require a higher tier or an Event Pass. We may apply capacity limits, fair-use limits, or rate limits to protect platform stability.
- The free tier is for non-commercial personal use. Commercial or large-scale event use requires an appropriate Club OS plan, Event Pass, or written agreement.
Wearable video allowances
- Watch and Garmin telemetry is included in your subscription.
- Wearable POV video capture (e.g. supported smart glasses, including Meta Wearables-compatible devices) is a separate, metered feature. Where offered, it carries its own allowances — measured in creator/broadcast minutes and delivered viewer-minutes — which are tracked and applied separately from live-map spectator links. These allowances, retention periods, and availability are described at runwiv.com/pricing and may depend on device-platform approval.
- Recording and consent responsibilities for wearable capture are set out under Smart Glasses & Wearable Recording above.
Club OS billing & cancellation
- Club OS plans (Crew, Squad, Marathon) are billed to the club, monthly or annually as selected, and renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel a Club OS plan at any time from the club's billing settings in the app or by contacting support@runwiv.com; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Registered club members are not, by themselves, the basis of pricing — simultaneous live usage and event capacity are. Member capacity and live-event capacity are billed separately.
- White-label and branded event configuration is available subject to scope and is quoted per engagement rather than provided as an unrestricted self-service entitlement.
Billing questions: support@runwiv.com.
copyright Intellectual Property
The Runwiv name, logo, app design, website, and original Runwiv content are owned by or licensed to Runwiv Ltd and protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without permission.
Your content
You retain ownership of content you create. By submitting content you grant Runwiv a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the Platform — for example, showing your live track to spectators you invited, rendering club channel messages to members, or displaying routes you publish.
- You must have rights to content you upload, including music in voice messages or background audio.
- Routes you draw in Route Studio remain yours; public route links you share are viewable by recipients of those links.
- Club names, logos, and event branding remain the property of their respective owners.
