These Terms of Service govern your use of Runwiv — the mobile app, Apple Watch companion, web surfaces, and club management tools. By creating an account or using Runwiv you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before you run.

Throughout these terms, the following words have specific meanings:
person Eligibility & Accounts
Age requirement
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Runwiv account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf. Runwiv is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Account responsibility
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when registering. Do not impersonate another person or use a misleading display name.
- Notify us immediately at support@runwiv.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
- We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Medical fitness
Consult a doctor before starting any new fitness programme. By using Runwiv you confirm that you are physically capable of participating in the activity you are undertaking and that you are not aware of any medical condition that would make running or your chosen activity dangerous without medical supervision.
shield Safety & Disclaimer
Running and fitness activities carry inherent physical risk. Runwiv makes running live, social, and fun — but your safety always comes first. The following rules are shown to every user before each run inside the app and form part of these terms.
Stay aware
Watch traffic, people, roads, weather, uneven ground and your surroundings at all times. No feature of the app is worth compromising your awareness of the real world around you.
Eyes up, not on screen
Do not let the app, your watch, live spectators, Hype Bombs, route prompts, game objectives, or other features distract you from real-world hazards. Use Apple Watch or audio cues where possible to keep your eyes on the road.
Play games safely
Never trespass, enter restricted areas, run into roads, ignore traffic rules, or take unsafe shortcuts to reach checkpoints, capture areas, or avoid other runners. Game objectives are optional and fun — they must never override your personal safety or the safety of others.
Location & data
Your live location and run stats may be shared with spectators or other participants depending on the run or game type. You can customise sharing in app settings. GPS, pace, heart rate, and route data may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable. Runwiv is not an emergency service and is not a medical device.
Stop if something feels wrong
Stop immediately if you feel unwell, unsafe, dizzy, faint, unusually breathless, or experience chest pain. Seek appropriate medical help. No run, challenge, leaderboard, or game is worth compromising your health.
By starting a run in the app, you confirm that you are fit enough to participate, will follow local laws and traffic rules, will stay aware of your surroundings, and accept personal responsibility for your own safety during any activity undertaken using the Platform.
rule Acceptable Use
You agree to use Runwiv only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:
- Harass, abuse, stalk, threaten, or harm other users, club members, or spectators on or through the Platform.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, another user's account, or Runwiv's infrastructure.
- Deliberately send false or misleading location data, manipulate leaderboards, or exploit game mechanics.
- Use the Platform to organise or promote activities that are illegal, dangerous beyond the inherent risk of running, or that endanger public safety.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or harvest data from the Platform in an automated manner without written permission.
- Use the Platform to send unsolicited commercial messages to other users.
- Broadcast or transmit content through live run features that is offensive, discriminatory, or illegal.
- Impersonate Runwiv staff, moderators, or other users.
Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination without notice and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.
share_location Location & Data
How location is used
Runwiv uses your device's GPS to power core features including live run tracking, multiplayer sessions, Arcade game modes, route navigation, and spectator views. Location is only active during an open run session unless you enable background tracking in your device settings.
Who can see your location
- Squad sessions: Participants in the same session can see each other's real-time position on the map.
- Solo live track: Anyone with your live-share link can view your position in the browser spectator view while the run is active.
- Radar & intercepts: Nearby runners using the Radar feature may see your approximate location if you have enabled that feature.
- Club admins: Club admins can see aggregated run activity for members who have participated in a club session. They do not have access to your personal history outside of club sessions.
Run records
Completed run records including GPS traces, splits, pace, heart rate, and analytics are stored against your account. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from account settings or by contacting support@runwiv.com.

gps_not_fixed GPS & Metrics Accuracy
GPS and biometric data are informational only. Runwiv is not a certified sports timing system, medical device, or navigation tool. Do not rely on it for safety-critical decisions.
GPS accuracy depends on satellite coverage, device hardware, environment (tall buildings, tunnels, dense tree cover), and atmospheric conditions. This means:
- Distance readings may differ from certified race measurements or other tracking devices.
- Pace calculations are derived from GPS position samples and may spike or lag in poor coverage areas.
- Heart rate data, where available, is sourced from Apple Watch or HealthKit and is subject to the accuracy limitations of those sensors.
- Grade-adjusted pace, elevation data, and running power metrics are estimates and should not be used for medical or clinical purposes.
- Virtual tape finish times and official chip times may differ — Runwiv virtual tape is for fun and not a substitute for certified timing.
Runwiv is not a substitute for emergency services. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number immediately.
groups Clubs & Organisations
Club admins
If you create or administer a Club on Runwiv, you are responsible for the conduct of your club's members within the Platform and for complying with applicable law in your jurisdiction, including data protection law as it applies to your use of member data.
- Club admins must not use member data obtained through Runwiv for commercial purposes outside of the Platform without members' explicit consent.
- Waivers published through the Club Waiver feature are stored by Runwiv for record-keeping only. Runwiv does not provide legal advice and is not responsible for the validity or enforceability of waivers in your jurisdiction.
- Club membership dues features are manual tracking tools only. Runwiv does not process payments between clubs and members and accepts no liability for payment disputes.
- Safety broadcasts sent via Club OS are your responsibility. Do not send false emergency broadcasts.
Members
By joining a club, you agree that the club admin may see your run activity within club sessions, manage your membership status, and use the Platform's communication tools to contact you about club activities.
payments Subscriptions & Billing
Certain features of Runwiv are available under a paid subscription ("Runwiv Pro" or equivalent). By subscribing:
- You authorise us to charge the applicable fee to your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, as selected).
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Cancellation stops future charges but does not generate a refund for the current billing period unless required by applicable consumer law.
- Prices may change with reasonable notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
- Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are subject to the respective platform's billing terms and refund policies.

copyright Intellectual Property
The Runwiv name, logo, app design, and all original content produced by Runwiv are owned by or licensed to Runwiv Ltd and are protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your content
You retain ownership of content you create — run records, photos, voice messages, and other material. By submitting content to the Platform you grant Runwiv a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and where applicable distribute that content as part of operating the service (for example, sharing your live track with spectators you have invited, or displaying your run on your profile).
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you share, including music played during voice messages or videos.
balance Limitation of Liability
Important — please read carefully. This section limits what Runwiv can be held responsible for.
Fitness activities
Running, competitive fitness events, and outdoor activities carry inherent risk of personal injury, illness, or death. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Runwiv accepts no responsibility for:
- Personal injury, illness, or death arising from using the Platform or participating in any run or activity.
- Accidents caused by following GPS directions, route suggestions, or navigation hints produced by the Platform.
- Harm arising from reliance on pace, heart rate, power, or other biometric data produced by the Platform.
- Harm caused by other users of the Platform during shared sessions, games, or intercept runs.
Platform availability
We do not warrant that the Platform will be available at all times, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements. The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available".
- We are not liable for service interruptions caused by internet connectivity, GPS signal loss, device failure, third-party services (Firebase, Apple, Google), or events beyond our control.
- We are not liable for any loss of run data caused by technical failure, app crashes, or network issues.
Cap on liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with these terms or the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Runwiv in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) £50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
edit_document Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we will notify you via the app, by email, or by a notice on the Platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
If you do not agree to updated terms, you may close your account before they take effect.
The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last updated.
public Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
